Saw this play on Friday night. It was a one-woman, 90-minute show that told the story of Golda Meir's life and her role as first and only female Prime Minister of Israel. We got our tickets through Gold Star Events, so the fact that we paid half price made the evening even better.
We also had a viewing of Persepolis last night over a dinner of stuffed grape leaves (delicious!) and strawberry rhubarb crumble (meh, but mostly cause I'm apparently not a lover of fruity desserts). I was amazed at how much I laughed through Marjane Satrapi's tales of her childhood and teen years in Tehran against the backdrop of the Iranian Revolution. The graphic novel-style animation was also very cool.
I highly recommend both if you live in Chicago, but go rent Persepolis right now, wherever you are. A little mind expansion never hurt anyone.

Glad to hear Persepolis is good. I've been wanting to see it for awhile now. You guys should check out the Music Without Borders concert series. They're at the Pritzker Pavilion at Millenium Park and they're free! Eric and I saw Orchestra Baobab on Saturday...it was a really cool experience. Got me pumped up for our Feist at Ravinia fun!
Agh! I almost called you to see if you wanted to come over and watch with us (and help eat our food!). Tell me you weren't free on Sunday night so I stop kicking myself!
Oh man! Well, we did go to see Wall-E that evening. But, we should have combined - an afternoon of Wall-E and then dinner and Persepolis. Wouldn't that have been an awesome Sunday?! Next time. :)
I'm pumped to see Wall-E. I think we're seeing it in Lima this weekend with the Sroufes.
Other than Kewpee, Lima does have movie theaters... so there's something.
When should we do our next dinner?
Well, maybe it's a good thing you didn't see it with us last weekend...or else I'm not sure what would have entertained you in Lima this weekend. Let me know what you think of it. We loved it.
Hmm...last weekend in July? (Gosh that seems far away.) Actually, I guess we should start scheming about Ravinia snacks first... Any thoughts?
